Growing korfball in

South London

Founded in 1948, Bec Korfball Club has been promoting the sport of korfball in the South London area for over 70 years. It is now one of the largest and most successful korfball clubs in the UK with four senior teams and two junior teams that play at a variety of levels ranging from the very top league in the country to the more sociable London leagues. As a result, the club is lucky to have over 50 active members on its books who love the competition, camaraderie and enjoyment that the club brings to their lives.

The club currently runs a variety of training sessions each week in Tooting that cater to players of all abilities from seasoned internationals to complete beginners. We pride ourselves on always welcoming new members and strive to provide the perfect environment in which to enjoy this unique sport.

...but hang on, what even is

KORFBALL?

Korfball is a fun and exciting sport that anyone can play. It bears similarities to netball and basketball in that the aim is to throw a ball into a basket but there a number of rules that mean it is quite different to both.

Uniquely, it is the world's only exlusively mixed-sex sport. This means that all korfball teams must always have four male and four female players on the court at all times. Each player is then in a duel with an opponent of the same sex and must use their speed, agility and skill to break free to shoot and score. This creates a fast, dynamic sport that requires teamwork and cooperation to achieve success.

Korfball is still relatively unheard of in the UK but it has been around for over a 100 years and is played in more than 60 countries around the world. The rules are easy to learn and luckily a nice chap called Ninh has created the video below to explain them in a bit more detail:
