After a month off Bec 2 returned to the pitch looking to put on a dazzling display and assert their dominance at the top of the league. It was case of top vs bottom as the team took on Croydon 2.
First attack- Billy, Jack, Amy and Caitlin
First defence- Stu, Craig, Jess and Chloe
Bec started strongly in attack, with Caitlin finding the Korf from range in the first attack of the game. It was quickly a case of 2 attacks, 2 goals as Amy scored too. Following the switch over, Bec struggled slightly in attack as shots were just not dropping. Sadly, Craig also came off injured at this point. Andy entered the game and fitted in well to the section. Some immense defence meant the ball was quickly returned to the attack and it wasn’t long before the section were converting their opportunities. The first half overall was really impressive in both attack and defence. Both sections rotated players at the post, meaning everyone got opportunities and everyone fought for every ball. Some solid post work from Jack and Billy allowed Amy and Caitlin to work together and convert their chances. In the other section, Jess found success from range whilst Chloe was easily able to get free and score. Stu and Andy combined well together, bringing more goals for Bec. It was great to see goals coming from everyone. Great defence also kept the opposition down to just 3 goals in the first half.
Half time score: 11-3
The second half continued much like the first as Bec built on their performance. Jack and Billy both got on the scoresheet whilst Caitlin and Amy proved to be a dynamic duo. With her player off injured, and with no sub to come on, Jess was no longer allowed to shoot. However, some good post work from her created opportunities for everyone else in her section. Stu stepped up his shooting and nailed a couple from range. Defence perhaps wasn’t as tight as Croydon managed to capitalise a few times. However, the result was never in doubt and Bec stormed to a convincing 24-10 victory
