It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Peter, our beloved co-founder of Bec Korfball Club, who left us peacefully on the 15th of October at the age of 96 after a short illness.

Peter’s vision and dedication were the cornerstone of our club, which he helped establish 75 years ago. His legacy is woven into every achievement and every moment of joy we’ve shared as a community. His kindness, humility, and passion for the sport of Korfball made him not just a founder, but a true gentleman and friend to all.

Dav and Lisa had the privilege of attending Peter’s funeral yesterday, where we met with his family and close friends. His son, Ian, shared how proud Peter was of the club and the progress we’ve made over the years. He also expressed how much Peter appreciated receiving the regular updates and stories through our emails and the Bugle. Ian has requested to be added to the mailing list to stay connected with our community and continue Peter’s legacy.

Peter’s love for the club, and his pride in what we have become, will remain a guiding light for us all. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him, but we will always be eternally grateful to him for the decision to start Bec Korfball Club and for the impact he had on so many lives.

As we reflect on Peter’s life and legacy, we invite all members, past and present, to join us in honoring his memory and continuing the work he began. His spirit will always be a part of the club, and we will do our best to carry forward the values he instilled in us.

Rest in peace, Peter. You will never be forgotten 💛
